Big Picture Talk by Didier Queloz postponed

20.09.2020

Nobel Laureate Didier Queloz would have given the first Big Picture Talk at the opening of the new Doctorate School VISESS on 25 September 2020. Due to the current COVID-19 situation in Vienna, the event had to be postponed to 2021. We will inform you about the new date for his talk on "The exoplanet revolution" as soon as possible!

Together with his colleague Michel Mayor, Didier Queloz discovered the first exoplanet 51 Pegasi b in 1995. Over 4000 more exoplanets have been confirmed up to date. Various instruments have been constructed during the past two decades to search for new stellar companions and to investigate their properties like size, mass and orbit. Finding habitable planets among them will bring us closer to the question if there is any extraterrestrial life out there.

In his talk on "The exoplanet revolution" Didier Queloz will give an insight in his research and the status of the current exoplanetary research.
